Beginners Course
New Beginners Course Starts: Easter - TBC. Book your place NOW!
12 Week Course - Only £50 Per Person!
The minimum age for the Beginners Course is 10 years - give or take a bit! ;O)
The price includes:
* Club Membership for the term.
* Full tuition from our BFA Registered coaches at County & Regional level. (CRB checked)
* Course Booklet. We follow the British Academy of Fencing Course structure & you will work towards completing your Bronze Award.
* Full Kit Supplied throughout the duration of the course.
* Just before Christmas the Club has an internal competition which is also open to the beginners, so you will be able to get involved in competitive fencing, should you wish to, after the Beginners Course has ended.
Primary Schools
Children 10 years old & above, who have completed a 10/12 week After School course with David & Nickola Beck or Robert Pryer or who hold a 'Swashbucklers Certificate' are eligible to join our course for a reduced price of £26. These children, depending on ability, may only need a few transitional lessons to convert them from plastic to metal swords and a few top-up lessons before being able to take their Bronze Award. Full details of where and when to meet on the night are made available to those enrolling on the course or wishing to book a place. Receipt of your payment & place will be acknowledged by email. ONLY PEOPLE WHO HAVE PRE-BOOKED WILL BE ADMITTED. You should wear comfortable tracksuit bottoms, T-shirt and 'Non-Marking' trainers and bring a small bottle of water or sports drink.
ALL Fencers under the age of 14 years MUST be accompanied throughout the entire evening by an adult. The supervising adult doesn’t have to be fencing, but MUST remain in the hall throughout the entire session
Week 1
Introduction, Safety & 'Kitting up'. It is very important that you attend this session as it forms the basis for the following weeks ahead.
Salle Rules
Week 2 - Onwards
Warm up (15 minutes), kit on, arm yourselves. Lesson with one or more qualified coaches. Lesson lasts 1 hour. Kit tidied away.
Inspired? ..........watch this A Tribute To Fencing which showcases all three weapons, Foil, Epee and Sabre and some of the best fencers in the world. (This has not been sped up!!)
