British Championships
Well done to everyone who entered the British Championships this year. The overall entry was down in Men & Womens sabre compared to previous years due to a number of changes. Because of this the standard was extremely high to say the least! I think its fair to say most of us had a pretty tough day at the office!
MF - Sam Ward 39/74.
MS - Tom Nicholls 19, Nick Charles 32, Mike Berry 36, Ben Jeays 48, 58 entered.
WS - Lisa Hoole 26, Nickola Beck 31, 33 entered.
Olympic Torch Nomination
A few of you may know that myself (Nickola) & Rob nominated Malc to be an Olympic Torchbearer because of his amazing 40 year fencing career. Also for forming Chilwell Blades and all his coaching work within the club and his many achievements on the piste, from County level, right up to international level, he's a true inspiration.
Malc got through the first selection stage but sadly wasn't selected to carry the torch. BOO! So in true Chilwell style we're cooking something of our own up for him instead!! ;O)
UK Top 100!
Firstly many congratulations to Katharine Schofield who for the first time has just entered the UK Top 100 in Womens Foil! Katharine entered at 96, an excellent result as the womens foil field is very large!
Packwood LPJS
Congratulations to Owen who took the bronze medal, losing 15-14 to the winner. He is now second in the U13 boys' epee rankings with one event to go.
Hereford and Worcester Open
Congratulations to Katharine Schofield who finished 23rd from 33 WF, so she should move further up the rankings.
Also to Ben who finished 13th, Tom 5th and Mike took the silver medal from a field of 30 in the Mens Sabre.
