signing in & weekly subs

The signing in book is now held with one of the parents, it is a requirement that all club members and visitors sign in so we know who is in the building. Please could visiting fencers please also pay their weekly subs when signing in. Thankyou.

club courses

There are various courses running on all three weapons this term, for more information please see the coaches on club night.

individual lessons

There is a list in the signing in book for members to sign up for individual lessons. The coaches not involved in the club courses will work through the list giving individual lessons. 7.30pm - onwards

*plastrons: safety*

I have been asked by the coaches to remind everyone that under current BFA REGULATIONS you MUST wear an 800 Newton UNDER PLASTRON for ALL fencing. This is NOT optional. A fencer was tragically killed in Poland a few months ago, the fencer was not wearing a plastron, the sword entered his chest under his armpit. Whilst this is very rare and not to cause panic, it is a risk that can be seriously reduced by wearing a Plastron.

*breeches: safety*

It is essential under BFA regulations that Breeches are worn when fencing 'Electric' Foil, Sabre, Epee & also 'Steam' Sabre & Epee. We suggest if you are buying your own kit, Breeches are bought first. See our article 'Buying your own Kit'

*safety in the salle*

The coaches would also like to remind everyone about basic Safety in the Salle.

  •  To get from one side of the salle to the other walk around the edges (where possible)

  •  Do not sit or stand at the ends of the Pistes

  •  Never point a weapon at anyone not wearing a mask

  •  Keep the point of weapon down when not fencing

  •  Put your weapon down before you put on your mask (unless you can do it one handed)

  •  Treat other fencers, coaches and helpers with respect

  •  When you hear the word ‘Halt!’ stop what you are doing, stand still, stop talking & listen
