next beginners course - september 2008

If you are interested in enrolling on our next Beginners Course it is ESSENTIAL that you read-on below for the full information.

 

 

beginners course - £50 per person 

This includes

*  Membership of the Club for the term.  (There are no reductions for children / students /unwaged / oaps) 

*  Full tuition from BFA Registered coaches at County & Regional level.

*  A Course Booklet. The Beginners Course will follow the British Academy of Fencing Course structure.

*  Full Kit Supplied throughout the duration of the course.

 

Just before Christmas the Club has an internal competition which is also open to the beginners, so you will be

able to get involved in competitive fencing, should you wish to, after the Beginners Course has ended. 

 

 

available places 

There are a total of 15 places on the Beginners Course. The MINIMUM age for the Beginners Course is 10 

years. There will be a maximum of 7 places available for people under 14 years. ALL Fencers under the age of

14 years MUST be accompanied throughout the entire evening by an adult. The supervising adult doesn't have

to be fencing, but MUST remain in the hall throughout the entire session and NOT in the bar, reception or pub!!

The course runs from its start date, every Wednesday evening at Chilwell Olympia, up until the end of the  

Fencing Session. Full details of where and when to meet on the night are made available to those enrolling on 

the course or wishing to book a place. Please see the 'LOCATION' page for the club location.

Upon payment being received you will be issued with a receipt to bring along with you on the first night. 

IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU BRING IT WITH YOU on the FIRST night, so you can be admitted onto the course.

ONLY PEOPLE WITH A BOOKING RECEIPT WILL BE ADMITTED. You should wear comfortable tracksuit bottoms,

T-shirt and 'Non-Marking' trainers.

 

 

 

 

course structure - 7pm - 8.30pm

week 1 - Introduction, Safety & 'Kitting up' - It is very important that you attend this session as it forms the 

basis for the following weeks ahead.

 

week 2 - onwards  - we get the hall. Get set up, Club announcements, etc

Warm up (15 minutes), kit on, arm yourselves.

Lesson with one or more qualified coaches. Lesson lasts 1 hour.

Kit tidied away.
