Over the last few weeks Chilwell fencers have been up and down the country at various competitions.
Veterans 4 Nations Championships
Firstly over the weekend of 16th April, myself (Nickola Beck) & Silvia Earl were selected to fence on the Veterans England Womens Sabre Team and one of our foilists on the England Mens Foil Team in the Veterans 4 Nations Championships in Wrexham.
Our England Womens Sabre team won all our matches beating Scotland, Ireland & Wales. After all 6 weapons over the two days England won enough matches to retain the trophy! A great weekend was had by all in a true Vets stylee!!
Birmingham Open
Secondly the following weekend of the 23rd was the Birmingham Open and as usual a really tough field. Chilwell fencers fenced really well and finished with some great results, particularly Lisa who finished in the L16 (WS).

British Youth Championships
Lastly, this weekend was the turn of our Juniors at the British Youth Championships in Sheffield and again some excellent results!
U14 Boys' epee: Owen finished 10th in a field of 45
U18 Boys' foil: Sam finished 19th in a field of 46
U14 Girls' sabre: Charlotte finished 13th in a field of 27
U14 Girls' foil: Charlotte finished 50th in a field of 51
U18 Boys' sabre: Greg finished 12th and Jordan 28th in a field of 32
Report: Owen Jordan
Owen had a great time at the BYC in Sheffield on Saturday. He had stepped up to the Under 14s although hes still only 12. There were 44 entries. He only lost 1 of 6 fights in the poule and was ranked 7 going into DE. He got a bye in the 1st round, won 2nd round 15-7 in the first 3 minute period and then came up against the current Elite Epee champion in the next round. He was leading right up to 11 points but ended up losing 15-12. He fenced brilliantly.
